Final Blog!

I am so grateful for the lessons learned in this course, as they were truly eye-opening. I didn't consider myself well-versed in any aspect of environmental health, and I felt a bit intimidated coming in to this course. I loved my hometown and appreciated its beauty, but I never stopped to think about how vulnerable it truly is. Everything from our personal care products unit to climate change provided me with insight as to how I can change my habits and perhaps make even a minuscule impact on the earth and my future. My literature review project on lead exposure and its effects on negative human behavior was very interesting, and it was the first time in a long time that I looked forward to doing a literature review!

Regarding the blogs, I wish there wouldn't have been so many. I realize it is a lot of material to cover in one semester and there is still much more to discuss, but they took up so much time for just completion credit. I think they were valuable, as they required me to do the readings and watch the videos, but four blogs in one week took almost an entire day to complete at the quality level I expect from myself and that I would want to read if I were a professor or a TA. I also didn't think commenting on each other's blogs was necessary. I was very lucky to have such smart and insightful group-mates, but it added an extra layer of work to the hours I had put in just a few days ago. Other than that, I really enjoyed this course and I will be taking these lessons with me for the rest of my life!

Thank you, Dr. Sattler and Nika and Sam, for all of your hard work this semester. Your time and feedback did not go unnoticed or unappreciated :)
