I didn't realize testing for Radon was so easy! I think people are afraid to test their home for chemicals because they think it will be time consuming and expensive, but I'm so happy to hear it's simple and completely worth the time.
My national awareness campaign would emphasize how easy it is to test your home, but that you can also get lung cancer even if you don't smoke due to your exposure to radon.
The TV campaign would be broadcasted in all communities, because it can happen to anyone and travel through buildings. It would contain a variety of messages somewhere along the lines of "Unknown radon exposure kills 21,000 people each year, but it doesn't have to. Testing your home for radon is as easy as 3 simple steps. Make sure you and your family are safe so you can spread the word about radon."
Partners and stakeholders would include children's hospitals around the country, as well as larger corporations with a vested interest in preventing lung cancer.

I like your idea of advertising through the use of television; it would reach such a large population and can be done with enough emotion to grab the attention of the watchers. You could also work with local news stations as well to show how important the issue is.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I had no idea what it required to do a radon test. The video cleared up that mystery for me. I don't people the general public know the important and how easy it is to test for radon in their homes so your focus on how easy it is to do the test is great.
